My city here in Wisconsin has adopted a "No Mow May"to save the 
dwindling bee population.  You even get a yard sign saying you are 
participating so your neighbors don't complain about your shabby 
lawns....I didn't have the heart to tell them that the bees are fine, 
but truthfully, my bees will love the new supply of dandelions.  Sorry, 
I know this doesn't help your question, but maybe point them to all the 
cities participating in this program for firepower?
