Another thing to consider is the change in habitat- invasive plants or
deliberate addition of new plants. In essence a change in food sources.

There are just too many variables for a definitive statement, either for
increase or decrease as to cause.

I note that wind turbines were not mentioned while insects do use the wind
to move from place to place.
