At what temperature?  Caloric expenditure at 35C is nearly 4x as high as at 20C.

Part of my quandary,   and the caloric needs I have seen are all moving bees,  not seen any info on stasis of a cluster.    

I would guess the best number would be 70F or so and work from there.
