>>Could your model make any recommendations for the NET outcomes of increase by removing nursebees to a newly established Queened NUC (creating package) versus taking brood frames plus covering bees (creating NUC)? Presumeably the first would create an imbalance in ratio of brood to cover. What's the effect on the donor and receiver colonies? Or is this a silly question?
It's not a silly question but it is a really, really hard question for my current model to answer. Basically, you're asking about the impacts of two different changes to the age structure of the population. To answer that, I need to create an age structure in my model in a way that I can then manipulate the age structure. That's a hard thing to do.
However, the question leads into how any change in age structure affects the colony, so it's something I'm working on. It's just going to take a while! I'm having to switch to Python instead of Excel, which is the equivalent to working in English and then being told to switch to Spanish. It's just not a language I know very well.
