Few years ago, Lantic(Rogers) contacted me as Alberta Provincial Apiculturist. They let me know that Taber facility is using GMO Beet for making sugar. They asked if this would affect bees? My answer was if 80% or more of honey in Western Canada comes from canola what would be the difference?
There is no issues with this sugar. it is sucrose. It is the same sucrose produced by sugar Can. We have never had any issues with either product when feed to bees.
I came from a country where they grow a lot of sugar can. All of it is used to make table sugar NOT RUM. Farmers have to use pesticides to protect the crop from bugs. At the end residues in extracted sugar are confirmed to food safety regulations. It is the same for sugar from beet.
Gerry, oh well, let us stick to science. let them have their beliefs and intuitions! cheers.
