Because of my hip operations I left two full supers on each hive to insure
they would make it through with no assistance from me. I knew it would
(will) be a cold winter (weatherbell.com) and probably go into spring, when
we have most of the starvation issues.

So next spring I am certain that I will have many bees and brood in at
least the lower super if not both. So what would you do, come spring, to
reclaim the supers for their normal use and get the bees back down into the
deeps?

Time is not an issue but heavy lifting is. I want to be gentle on the new
hips for about a year, which means until mid summer.

I do have a plan but am interested in other options.
