Zach Huang did the research on heating drone frames - but his Mite Zapper kills everything and then the bees clean out.  Like freezing without the fuss.  But it requires his Zapper frames and a power source and has to be activated periodically.  We used some for a demo for Army - a way a soldier could effect some varroa control without opening hives.
