So, civility. This thread made me go back and revisit meiosis, because I thought that hybridization (ok, now called crossover) only occurred in about 10% of pairings.  I learned that the percentage is higher than that,  and it gave me an even greater appreciation for the complexity and variance that is inherent to the life cycle of the honeybee. Thank you all driving this discussion forward.
