The claim that queens result from merely being fed a more food than workers should raise eyebrows all around.
Queens hatch in about 3.5 days, are uncapped until about 8 days, and emerge at 16 days
Workers hatch in about 3.5 days, are uncapped until about 9 days, and emerge at 20 days
From the point of view of the larvae, the food supply is "all you can eat" in both cases, as the larvae literally float in brood food. If they don't "float", the larvae dies.
"But Wait" asks the casual observer. "The worker gets 9 uncapped days at the all-you-can-eat Buffet - how is this LESS food than 8 days?
The solution is left to the reader.
