10 years ago I had a grey Arabian horse who chronically suffered from grease heel or scratches as it is called. It causes inflammation of the heel and scabby discharge which causes lameness and discomfort. The vets tried any number of remedies over three weeks but none worked very well. I became frustrated because I was showing him at a big show in a couple of weeks so as a last ditch effort I tried honey. Twice a day application and in a week it was healed. It was the method I used from then on and never had any more problems.
