>I would suggest that USDA needs to change wording to Reagent Grade Oxalic
As you are well aware, the number one consideration of any government
agency is to cover their ass to avoid lawsuits.
Thus, the EPA will only register OA certified for purity by a testing lab.
This would certainly apply to reagent grade, but all that we beekeepers
would need is laboratory grade.
I don't know whether the 99.6% purity claimed on the label of the 50-lb
bags that I've purchased is certified by anyone other than the seller. Any
seller of OA can claim purity on the container, without a testing
lab's imprint (the party to sue).
It seems to me that all the ABF or AHPA would need to do is to find a cheap
source of OA, get it certified, piggyback it onto the existing
registration, and then provide it to distributors with an agreement on
pricing.
Anyone feel free to correct me if the above is incorrect.
