All very true. But irrelevant as the tiny R value of the comb itself is for all practical purposes irrelevant to the rate of heat transfer. Now if you could add cocoons without any propolis or wax added so there was an air space between each fiber strand and you built up enough such layers you might get enough R value in the solids to amount to something from a heat transfer standpoint. But, the resulting cell size would be too small to raise brood after a very few cycles of brood.
