Anita:
Congratulations! I am sure that Texas A & M will do a great job as an
interim solution. I, personally, feel that a PERMANENT,
non-political\non-governmental solution is for AIA, SHA, CUA, SAS, SAA and
ISAP to, together, fund a well-funded, PRIVATE CONSORTIUM based in a
neutral country, say Switzerland, to carry on your fine work AND receive
funding from the various mineral and energy industry foundations AND the
consulting groups that use your services and data.
Those are my "two cents" and this "thread was, unfortunately, lost in the
news about the lamentable loss of "Smoke", Iron Hume and others. We have
lost so many GREAT contributors to Archaeology and more are soon to pass
and we all age like fine wine. But, when the wine is spilled the
opportunity to gain from its flavor and aroma is lost forever.
