John:

Congratulations! You have found materials on the surface and in place BUT
what about structures or features? I understand that the site was
investigated before. What were the results then? Did metal detecting find
anything of the 15th Century occupation, then. Is the site primary or
secondary deposition?

Claudia and I recommend detailed (1 m grid) pXRF soil studies like I did
for Greg Waselkov at Fort Louis de Louisiane. If you don't have a copy of
my 2007 SHA presentation on that I would be glad to send it to you. pXRF is
extremely useful in characterizing use patterns and finding burials-there
should be a lot of them.

The tabby construction of any structure MAY have a higher K+Ca content.
That is what we found at Ft. Fredericka and what Dave Brewer found at the
Emerellon (sp.) site at Cape Canaveral.

Contrary to what the treasure hunters say, WRI is still actively looking
for the Ribault Massacre, the Ribault Shipwreck sites and La Caroline.
Your work in the earlier work in the Spanish campsites will be invaluable
to our efforts.

Please keep Claudia and myself up to date! WRI would love to work with you
and your excellent team on this VERY WORTHWHILE PROJECT! We are fully
recovered from the injuries we sustained in a gang attack 2010 and want to
get back into the field working with soil and plant pXRF studies.

Sincerely,
