Any skilled beekeeper knows you make more honey when your not feeding brood. No research needed.
But for the majority of us, its like killing the golden goose for the egg still inside her.
If your a hobby person or can retail honey, then 6 frames of brood for 30 lbs of honey may be a great trade. But for most of us those bees ate needed to get the hive back to winter condition.
The point Janet made was right on for most beekeepers.
The paper cited was at best a bit dated, and there are many reason its principles have not been Implemented
