Out of curiosity, I'm trying to do a bit of reading on what beekeepers were experiencing with respect to pesticide poisonings in the 1950s/1960s. I've heard it said quite often on this listserv the chemicals we have today are far better for bees than the chemicals in use at that time. Does anyone have experience from back then? I'm specifically interested in whether the use those chemicals resulted in industry-wide impacts.

I'd like to get my eyeballs on this article if possible: LEPPIK, E. E. 1951: New insecticides are disastrous to bees. Amer. Bee J. 91: 462-3.

Does anyone know if old ABJ articles have been digitized? I can't find it anywhere online. Hopefully the libraries will be open again soon.

Thanks,

Tracey
