Hello All,
Niue Island in the South Pacific has over 1,000 beehives, all of which are owned by one beekeeper, and varroa was absent when I was there last July.
Stewart Island off the southern end of the South Island of New Zealand has about 30 hives and a beekeeper who owns some of the hives said this year that varroa is absent.
New Caledonia which is east of Australia was free of varroa some years ago, and I haven't heard that it still isn't.
Regards,
Barry Donovan
New Zealand.
