Jeepers! Alcohol is the best way I know to euthanize a colony...quick, humane as possible, effective (think what happens when you do an alcohol wash...). I think this method would do more than dry out brood, it would completely kill every bee in the colony.

But I guess that would kill all the mites too.  : )
