An unresolved question: does reappearance of EFB in a colony in the 
spring derive principally from remaining high titres of live bacteria 
in comb due to an earlier infection or from susceptibility to 
development of infections perhaps precipitated by 
environmental/nutritional factors.  The end result is the same, but the 
causes may suggest different approaches to curbing the infection long 
term in individual colonies and in apiaries.
