Most members are very good about omitting or severely trimming quotes and
leaving off attribution lines, avoiding being personal, or making pointless
interjections, but a few posts come in regularly that go into the bit
bucket. Enough to warrant this reminder.
Moderation has rejected a number otherwise acceptable and even excellent
posts recently due to gratuitous quoting and a few
other no-nos. (Confusing formatting, grunting, 'Atta boy', and
'Meee toooo'.... etc.)
Quotes--any quotes--as explained many many times pollute the archives and
frustrate searches.
We like to assume that everyone reads recent messages on a topic in order
and that most members have a functioning memory for what was recently
written, and understand the subject. If not, previous posts are available
for reference in your own message folder or on the server in the rare
instance there is need.
There is seldom a reason to quote more than a few words--if anything--and
if the quoted material approaches, equals, or exceeds the length of your
own message, obviously there is an excess.
It is *your* responsibility to
1.) make sure your posts meet our guidelines before submission and
2.) verify your posts are approved after sending.
If your message does not appear on the list after reasonable time and when
other messages clearly are being processed, please check your sent
messages for possible reasons, correct, and resubmit.
We try to be consistent, but also goof or cut some slack at times, so if
you are lucky once, don't count on it.
Thank you.
