These were bees that had died near and far away from the hive. I was counting dead bees on my board when I started noticing a lot of variation in bee sizes (abdomens). I kept a bunch of these to the side to sample individually.
The picture is an example of what I was finding. I had never seen those globes before as my regular Nosema testing procedure is to mash up 25 bees with 25ml distilled water, and then place a drop on slide.
So I was curious if anyone had seen this before? (they were not moving).
