About ten years ago I was hired as a hive inspector for a company out of the Northeast. Because I “took too long to do a thorough inspection” I was given a hard time and eventually let go. Having started beeking in 1980, I didn’t feel it was lack of experience on my part. Come to find it was part of their business model to let the hives die and replace them at their (the company’s) expense. When I left there were a team of “inspectors” in their early 20’s, each with a year of beeking experience at the most. Their wages were below minimum. In spite of that the company seemed to flourish.
I haven’t checked on them in years and really don’t care to.
