The one I am thinking of is the first one described here. There are more and more complicated versions.

The Trucker's Hitch (also known as a Wagoner's Hitch) is essentially half of a sheepshank knot; it's valuable because it holds itself under tension, but is very easy to undo.

The rope tackle, is also known as the Trucker’s Hitch, Lineman’s Hitch, Load Binder, Wagoner’s Hitch, Harvester Hitch, Hay knot.

The Dutchman's Knot — a bight in the rope is twisted two or three times and another bight is passed through the first. This second bight forms the pulley, and the rope, after passing over a button or slat, passes through this and the tugging commences.
