I have never seen a real study of the impact of removing old combs on a regular basis. I have always had a lot of old combs and intuitively I felt that the bees did better with them. They seem to prefer old to new except during a furious nectar flow, where they don't care where they put the honey. So, the above doesn't surprise me but I would like to see someone really nail it down
