Here is a my data showing the internal mid chamber temperature of a hive through ~365 days. Temperature in a hive is analogous to heat produced/vibration/sound.
I am located at 60 deg lat N so we get a lot of light in summer and a lot of dark in winter. As you can see, the relationship clear shows a link to sunlight vs the external temperature (Coldest weather here was in Jan/Feb). Bees had a cleansing flight in early November and none until mid March. I was amazed this year to see capped brood and newly emerged brood during my 1st spring inspection April 1st.
