Hi all
The problem here is what Prof Calderone used to say: You can't use reason with someone whose views are not based on reason. People that oppose GMO generally oppose it on emotional, religious, or anti-science grounds; outside the domain of reason.
Not that these necessarily aren't valid criteria for building core values, but they belong to a different realm entirely. For example, pointless to argue that it's perfectly fine to eat meat because humans have done it for millennia -- if the person is morally opposed to killing animals for food.
