Hi David,

Be sure to check out the work of Zierden et. al in Charleston!

Warmly,
Sarah Platt

Subject: zooarchaeology - pet birds

Hello - is anyone aware of zooarchaeological finds identifiable as pet birds? Or related artifacts such as bird cages or related equipment? I'm developing a historic context for mockingbird remains found in the early 19th century Officers' Latrine at Fort Snelling in Minnesota. They appear to be pet birds and I'm wondering if there are comparable finds elsewhere.
Thank you,
David
