My apologies. I should perhaps have used the term "naturally-occuring
chemicals."
As opposed to "xenobiotics" -- chemicals not produced in organisms or the
environment.
Naturally-occuring chemicals can of course be produced synthetically, such
as by combining hydrogen and oxygen to produce water.
If one wished, they could certainly obtain thymol, formic, or oxalic acid
sourced from thyme herb, ants, or rhubarb, respectively. Would that
suffice for you to call them "biologicals"?
