I was trying to picture a seven frame brood stack(3 boxes high), with standard honey supers on top. I use 4 frame deep boxes(half the width of standard 10 frame boxes) for nucs and winter them the first winter 2 boxes high(8 frames total). I cut plastic queen excluders in half then add the same 4 frame boxes on top as honey supers. Making sure that the frame spacing is equal helps reduce brace comb between the frames.
