Hi Pete, 
You already have my meager comments. Still, I wanted to add that your effort to recall beekeeping history with such careful detail and then frame our current experience in that historical context makes you a national treasure.  I see this article, and many of your other ones, as required reading for both balance and needed perspective. I encourage your continued effort to inform our community. Also, I plain old like the way you write. 

Best wishes to everyone for a joyous holiday season and continued good health in the coming year. In particular, I'd like to thank Aaron Morris for his tireless efforts to moderate Bee-L and all the contributors that enliven the content.
