Re. urban beekeeping ordinances, we thought we were making a little progress here in Newfoundland and Labrador when the City of Mount Pearl adopted urban beekeeping by-laws a couple of years ago. However, we have just learned that they want to charge beeks $350 (CDN) ($260 US) for a beekeeping permit.

I would appreciate hearing from BEE-L participants about any municipal, town, or city jurisdiction that charges beeks for permits. If they do, how much are they charged? I’m also interested in the names of jurisdictions that do not charge.

Thanks in advance for your help with this. We have to nip this in the bud.
