I’m in the pacific NW, so interested in the Asian giant hornet. I might have paid more attention than usual to the orchestra pit in front of each landing board this fall. Yellow jackets hung around the area and ate the abdomens off worker bees in a couple hives, both of which I think were struggling with viruses. The result was heads and thoraxes walking around, unescorted by abdomens. An arresting sight.
