The point I was attempting to make was that "unverified statistics" are no more than opinions themselves. I don't think _that_ in itself is an opinion, I think that is a fact. As we were told as far back as Mark Twain.
I understand probability and margin of error, but an "unverified statistic" is like a wild guess or a hunch. I don't see how the introduction of "unverified statistics" can advance the discussion one jot and for me, it caused me to doubt the veracity of all that was written above it.
On the other hand, the first person I know that died from from covid got it last spring at a large family get together. She was 75,, cooked up a huge spread and invited all her relatives. People were like, Abuelita, do you think that is a good idea? She was like, But I cooked all this food. She went to the hospital and died there. Her husband didn't get sick but he died a month or two later, just gave up.
