> I recall a Dadant branch manager telling me years ago he used a black light as a quick check for paraffin adulterated wax. Apparently the adulterated wax glowed in the dark. Has anyone used this test?
Back in the 1980's this claim of using a UV light to tell adulteration was raised here in Australia. People claiming they could pick up paraffin in beeswax using the UV light.
I was part of a some experiments we did, never published, where we got burr comb, so there no adulteration in it. To this we added a known quantities of paraffin and we could not pick it up with UV light. As I recall we went as high as 50%.
