>>> Another point is that these may be normal bee behaviors present in all colonies.<><><> I'm old and getting forgetful, but when I was keeping bees in Indiana in the 1970's and early '80's I don't recall ever seeing brood uncapped in what I call a bald-face situation - where the brood was white with pink to purple eyes looking up out of partially uncapped cells. In fact, I think that for me this condition has only become prevalent in the last three to five years. Wish I had written notes about that so that I had better recall.
