The first packages I bought about 45 years ago were 5 Caucasians and 5
Italians. The Caucasians were delightful bees to work with. You had to
really work at it to get them upset enough to sting you. I believe that the
hybrids of Caucasians and Italians are rather bad tempered.
If they were available, I would be happy to buy a few Caucasian queens to
try for the urban beekeeping that is still going strong here.
