I don't think that is the "general thought" at all. A lot of work is being done on disinfecting equipment, for example with radiation. The point is that it isn't going to help that much if the bees themselves are the primary carrier of the viruses. And it may simply be a waste of time and money. But if money is no object, then go ahead and buy all new equipment every year -- see if that makes a difference. Where you will get the virus free bees to put in it, I have no idea ...
