Yeh, I bought a 'new' book on the definitive history of bee hives. Another collection of readily available pictures, Langstroth, etc.
One of my Master Level students in a 8 week study found over 1200 hive patents. Yet this book says nothing new, nor does it show much of anything innovative or unusual, and it doesn't deal with anything that wasn't around when I started working with bees in almost 50 years ago. Vague mention of top bar and Warre.
Plastic hives, plastic frames, innovative modern designs - not even mentioned. From my travels, there are lots of innovative things going on with plastic hives overseas that we have yet to see in North America. Nothing in the book about these.
Overall, our student in a few weeks did a better job.
