Most "hybrid vigor" claims that I see are from the crossing of inbred
lines, rather than wild type animals.
For wild type crosses, there are sometimes dramatic epigenetic effects,
parentally-linked, such as when one crosses a lion with a tiger, or vice
versa.
Re mules, do you know the results of crossing wild-type horses and donkeys,
rather than our inbred domestic breeds?
