I have kept small colonies inside my house in VA for up to 5 weeks in butterfly habitats. The screened tent for them to buzz around in will allow them to have cleansing flights. Be prepared to swap out tents so you can give one a good scrubbing. It gets quite nasty. The pollen seems to be the main factor in how nasty it gets, but you will need to use it if you want them to raise brood.
