Some descriptions of the Demaree method use a second queen excluder beneath
the top brood box and above the honey super(s) below. Can someone explain
the purpose of this second excluder?
>Demaree was promoted as a form of swarm control. In practice it was also used for comb honey production. With 2 queen in the stack you could create huge work population. The second excluder separate the two queens (one below and one above) and this would keep the two queen separated. At the end of the season the 2 excluders were removed and it was assume the younger queen in the top of the stack would replace the older queen in the bottom. < and with a younger queen this would help reduce swarming in the next season.
