" I been trying to google what the conversion efficiency of honey to heat is"
When food is metabolized in one way or another 100% of the energy is converted to heat eventually. Typically a lot of the energy is directly converted into heat. In the Krebs cycle something like 65% of the energy ends up as waste heat and only about 35% is stored in ATP. A minor amount is diverted to do various mechanical things in the animals body such as flap wings driven by the energy stored in ATP. But, the air movement resulting from that flapping ends up as low level heat sooner or later so even the part that does mechanical things eventually is converted to heat. Some of the ATP energy may also be used in making non essential amino acids, proteins, chitin, etc but this part of the energy is sooner or later converted to heat also. Some of it may not end up as heat until the critter dies and decays. But, that is a fairly minor % of the total intake.
