Open a  word document in the default type face.  Set the font size to 8 and type a lower case c.  If you have spell check turned on that little  c will have an even smaller red squiggle under it.  That red squiggle is the size larva you are looking for but a bit bigger will work just fine.  I measure that red squiggle as being 2 mm long.  A larva as big as the c is way too big.
