What is the impact of pupa cannibalism that is actually encouraged by human
activities? Have virus levels in colonies where drone brood’s been scraped
from the bottoms of frames during spring inspections been shown to rise in
substantive and impactful ways relative to hives where this hasn’t
occurred? There’s always some brood juice after that action that the bees
avidly clean up. What about in those hives tasked with cleaning up green
drone frames after they’ve been cycled through the freezer? Are they hurt
by this?
Not all of us have chickens to do that cleanup!
