I have seen posts on various forums about missing body parts but somehow I never did pay much attention to such things as it seldom was a significant issue in my area. And, as I recall, it was other parts of the bee that were gone.
I wonder what is so attractive in the head compared to the rest of the bee?
In some cases, I assume that the bees are dead already when the parts are eaten, but the major concern is when live bees are grabbed and eaten.
Is there a definitive study or article anywhere of the various causes of bees being eaten in part of whole in the hive?
I would assume we have some people on the list who have made this an area of interest.
