John, I don't know of any side-by-side studies, but I've spoken with
beekeepers and brokers who have reputations for providing the strongest
colonies to almond pollination. After years of trial and error
experimentation, they invariably focus upon the pre-winter feeding, and
then January feeding if natural pollen flows are not available.
