*Wow, some of us on the East Coast equate the State of Washington climate with what we hear about Seattle.  I, for one, had no idea that mid-state you have weather colder than frigid upstate NY!*

Ah Lloyd,

There is a whole lot of Washington east of the Cascade ridge. This is where all the apples, cherries, peaches, hops, wheat and beef come from. We are the second (only to Calif,) largest market for pollination contracts requiring 523,000 colonies for tree fruit and seed crops annually. We refer to the part west of the Cascades as "the coast". That is where all your software, coffee, airplanes and Amazon prime come from as well as the great majority of the citizens. I'm 300 miles east of Seattle, 200 miles east of central WA (mid state) in eastern WA near the Idaho boarder. Lots of bees, lots of wheat, lots of wide open spaces. Not many people. More like Montana or the Canadian prairies eh?
