There is another product and team that seems well established globally
Hivetool.org
I just bought their kit but it is far to cold here in Alberta to install.
They claim to be doing research and are working towards getting a turn key
setup.
A Raspberry Pi (RPI)  ( a credit card sized computer) is recommend -  Image
for the RPI is available for download from their site.
One con - their default measurement system is in Imperial - though there is
a button to switch to metric.
