I find it interesting how my body/mind begins to crave a sting or two after
a few days without one. I've also heard this from other longtime
beekeepers.
I haven't the slightest idea as to whether it is due to addiction to the
endorphins released in response to the pain, or to some effect upon the
immune system, or whether it is simply psychosomatic, but just typing these
words in a hotel room, two days after my last sting, makes my body tingle
with the thought of getting another sting. It's not like I enjoy the pain
in any way--it's something about the aftereffect.
