I have not heard of Apocephalus breeding in hives but there is not a lot of info available. I suspect those may be Drosophila (AKA "Fruit flies", Vinegar flies) breeding in fermenting honey? I suggest putting a number of pupae in a ziplock back and see what comes out. The adults are very different. In my experience, Apocephalus pupae are much smaller and darker than those of Drosophila spp. ===================== Dave Pehling WSU Extension Snohomish Co. 600 128th St. SE Everett, WA. 98208 425-338-2400 http://snohomish.wsu.edu http://gardening.wsu.edu/<https://connect.wsu.edu/owa/redir.aspx?SURL=vIenl3qmLfUHVk6D1QZTi8f5ClwUYAPnJSorfombWUC7IT5L57LSCGgAdAB0AHAAOgAvAC8AZwBhAHIAZABlAG4AaQBuAGcALgB3AHMAdQAuAGUAZAB1AC8A&URL=http%3a%2f%2fgardening.wsu.edu%2f> =================== *********************************************** The BEE-L mailing list is powered by L-Soft's renowned LISTSERV(R) list management software.
